Overview
Smart Search is designed to help you discover and connect with new businesses across the REG Network.
Traditionally, customers would use the platform once they already knew which company they intended to work with. Smart Search expands the use of the Network by allowing you to identify potential partners earlier in the process.
By combining REG’s existing due diligence data with the new Business Profile information provided by companies themselves, Smart Search allows you to search the entire Network using natural language and detailed criteria.
This guide explains how Smart Search works, what information it searches, and how you can use it to find reputable businesses and grow your network with confidence.
What is Smart Search?
Smart Search is an enhanced search feature within the Network that allows you to search the entire network of registered businesses.
Unlike the standard connection search, which looks only within your existing monitored companies, Smart Search allows you to explore the full REG Network database to identify potential new partners.
The feature searches across multiple data sources, including:
Regulatory data (such as FCA authorisation)
Company incorporation data
Credit score information
Sanctions and PEP screening
Business Profile information submitted by companies
Lines of business and product information
This means you can locate potential partners that meet specific regulatory, geographic, or commercial criteria before you begin the onboarding process.
Accessing Smart Search
To access Smart Search:
Log in to the REG Network.
Select
from the top navigation bar.
Click
.
You will then be presented with the Smart Search interface, where you can begin entering search terms and selecting .
Searching the Network
Smart Search allows you to search using natural language, meaning you can type phrases rather than relying on exact company names.
For example, you could search for:
“Motor insurance broker in the UK”
“Lloyd’s broker in Italy with a strong credit score”
“Insurance company authorised by the FCA”
The system then analyses your query and returns companies that match the relevant data points within the REG Network database.
Search results may match based on several factors, including:
Country or jurisdiction
Company type (such as broker, insurer, or MGA)
Regulatory registrations
Credit score data
Lines of business or products
Business Profile information
This makes it easier to identify organisations that meet your business or compliance requirements.
Understanding Search Results
Each search result shows key information about the company, allowing you to quickly assess whether they may be a suitable partner.
Information displayed may include:
Company name and logo
Verification status
Regulatory information
Credit score indicators
Matching data points from your search query
Where available, you will also be able to view the company’s Business Profile, which provides additional information about the organisation, such as:
An “About Us” description
Company type
Products or lines of business
Key contact information
Office locations
This allows you to review key details about a business before deciding whether to proceed further.
Viewing Business Profiles
If a company has completed their Business Profile, you can view this directly from the search results without needing to add them as a connection.
This helps you better understand:
What the company does
The types of insurance products they specialise in
Who to contact within the business
This additional context supports earlier-stage business development and helps you decide whether to initiate a relationship.
Adding a Company as a Connection
Once you identify a business you wish to work with, you can begin the process of connecting with them.
From the search results or company profile, you can:
Add the company as a connection
Start the onboarding process
Begin communication
Access due diligence data
Issue documents such as Terms of Business Agreements
This allows you to move seamlessly from discovery to onboarding within the REG Network.
How Smart Search Supports the Onboarding Journey
Smart Search helps bring the REG Network earlier into your partnership journey.
Instead of using the platform only once a partner has already been identified, you can now:
Discover potential partners
Review their profile and regulatory information
Evaluate key risk indicators
Begin onboarding
Manage documentation and ongoing monitoring
This creates a single workflow from initial discovery through to active relationship management.
Best Practices for Smart Search
To get the most value from Smart Search:
Use clear phrases describing the type of company you want to find.
Include location, regulatory status, or product type in your searches.
Review Business Profiles where available for additional context.
Encourage partners to complete their Business Profile to improve visibility across the Network.
As more companies complete their profiles, search results will become richer and more accurate.
