Overview
This article explains what tags are, why they are useful, and how to use them across the REG Network to better organise, filter, and manage your data.
You’ll learn how to:
- Understand what tags are and why to use them
- Add and remove tags
- Use tags to improve filtering, reporting, and document exchanges
- See where tags are available across the Network
What Are Tags and Why Use Them?
Tags are custom identifiers that allow you to categorise your connections and records into meaningful groups that align with your internal business processes.
For example, you may choose to tag firms as:
- Brokers
- Insurers
- Suppliers
Using tags makes it easier to sort and filter your connections in a bespoke way. Tags are also included in data extracts, allowing you to quickly refine exported data.
Tags can also improve efficiency when using Document Exchange. For example, if certain connections do not require an individual ToBA, you can tag them as “Network Broker” and choose to ignore all firms with this tag when setting up an exchange.
Adding & Removing Tags
Tags can be added or removed in multiple areas across the REG Network and can be used alongside filtering and sorting.
To add a tag:
- Select

- Choose a tag from the drop-down list, or type a new tag name if it does not already exist
- Select

Once created, new tags will be retained and available for future selection.
You can apply multiple tags to the same item if required.
To remove a tag:
- Select the
next to the tag name
The tag will be removed immediately.
Where Tags Can Be Used
Tags are available throughout the REG Network. Below is a summary of where tags can be viewed, added, removed, or used for filtering.
Dashboard
- View tag distribution, including tag names and how many times each is used
Connections
- Active connections – View tag status on connection cards and filter by tags
- Archived connections – View tag status on connection cards and filter by tags
- Connection details – Add and remove tags
Tasks and Notes
- New task – Add and remove tags
- Edit task – Add and remove tags
- New note – Add and remove tags
- Note details – Add and remove tags
Documents and Alerts
- New document – Add and remove tags
- Alerts – Add and remove tags (excluding the primary Alert tag)
Document Exchange
- New document exchange – Add and remove tags
- Document exchanges – Add and remove tags
Filtering and Notifications
- Filters – Filter results by selecting tags from the tags drop-down list
- Daily alert summary notifications – Add or remove tags for in-app notifications and email summaries
