A Connection on the REG Network refers to how your organisation interacts with and monitors another entity (such as a broker, MGA, insurer, or similar). There are different types of connections depending on the level of oversight and how the relationship is managed.
Manual Connection
A Manual Connection refers to a non-automated record of a relationship with another company on the REG Network. It is typically used where ongoing automated monitoring is not required or has not been enabled.
This type of connection:
- Is not actively monitored in real time
- Does not trigger automated alerts or updates
- Is primarily used for record-keeping or basic visibility
- Requires manual review to identify any changes or risks
It provides a static view of the relationship at the point it was added.
Monitored Connection (Active Connection)
A Monitored Connection, also referred to as an Active Connection, is a billable connection where your organisation actively monitors another entity within the REG Network.
Once activated, it provides real-time oversight, including:
- Incorporation and company structure changes
- Credit status updates
- Regulatory status and permissions changes
- Document and certification tracking
- Automated risk alerts and notifications
This ensures your organisation is continuously informed of material changes that may impact the relationship.
Link Connection
A Link Connection refers to a referenced or associated relationship between entities on the REG Network that is not actively monitored or billed as a full Active Connection.
This type of connection:
- Shows a relationship or association between entities
- Does not include monitoring or alerting
- Is not billable
- Is typically used to provide contextual network visibility
- Helps map corporate or broker group structures where relevant
It is intended to support understanding of relationships rather than ongoing compliance tracking.
Why These Terms Are Used
These connection types are used to clearly distinguish between:
- Passive visibility (Link Connections)
- Static records (Manual Connections)
- Proactive, billable compliance monitoring (Monitored/Active Connections)
This ensures organisations can manage risk effectively while understanding what level of service and monitoring is applied to each relationship.
